It all began with a little boy
A toddler; 2½ years old ~ diagnosed with an eye problem that insurance refused to cover. In 1987, treatment cost $45 per week & Christmas was right around the corner; his parents could afford presents or treatments ~ not both.
His mom, Kim Jones, a stay-at-home mom but a Physical Therapist by profession, remembered that, when she worked as a department Director, there was a need for local Temporary Staffing. So she placed phone calls to a few local out-patient clinics & inquired if they ever needed extra help with patient care.
The following week she was back treating patients.
Kim went from Homemaker to Corporate President in just 3 days.
Six weeks later, with more requests than she could handle alone, Kim & her husband Mike asked other professionals if they would be interested in Per Diem assignments. Four months later, 6 PTs were working for P.T. Abilities, our company’s original name.
"P.T. Abilities" combined Kim’s profession with our first motto,
“to say 'Yes!' to the possibilities."
Since September of 1987, we have earned a reputation for delivering excellent patient care. Soon after our founding, PTAs, OTs, OTAs, joined our PTs & we changed our name to more accurately reflect the healthcare professionals we proudly serve.

In 2005, the same year RehabAbilites became the 1st Healthcare Staffing Company in California to achieve Certification by The Joint Commission, Kim partnered with a seasoned Social Work staffing professional and Social Service Professionals was born!
One year later, Social Service Professionals joined RehabAbilities & also earned Certification from The Joint Commission.
Throughout the years, RehabAbilities has accomplished several historical firsts:
1st agency to actively promote the Per Diem staffing of Therapy Assistants.
1st registry to offer comprehensive benefits, including Paid Time Off.
